Goudhurst in the Weald of Kent
Just 9 miles to the east of Tunbridge Wells and set high on a hill with magnificent views across the High Weald, Goudhurst has some fine ancient houses lining its short high street. The hop gardens have declined in recent years but the countryside around the village remains dotted with oast houses.
Spelmonden Old Oast
Forming part of the Spelmonden Farm estate, the Old Oast was once used as a drying house for the hops grown in surrounding fields. Hops were once spread on wooden floors, with fires below providing heat and with the hot air and steam escaping through the cowl on top of the oast.
Our working environment
Following total refurbishment in 2003, Spelmonden Old Oast is now our 'home'. We have a good deal of central open-plan space - ideal for our telephone reservations activity with individual kilns providing large offices for specialist departments. Our meeting room on the top floor is particularly impressive, rising high into the roof space!..
